The Best of Both Worlds - Van Halen
1) There's only three songs on the other GH one that is not on the "Best of Both Worlds" one. Those three are Humans Being, and the two "new" DLR songs (Can't Get this Stuff no More & Me Wise Magic). Other than that, every other song from that one is on this one.
2) This has three new songs with Sammy on it. Of the two I've heard so far, I rather like 'em - I think It's About Time is a great song.
3) There's nothing from the Gary Cherone album on here. I know most people don't care for it, but I do. They could have used the single (Without You), or possibly Dirty Water Dog, which was a great song.
4) There are three live songs (Talkin About Love, Panama, Jump) that are also on here as studio versions. There are plenty of other songs that could have been here - instead they put three songs on here twice. WHAT IS WITH THAT?
As with any Greatest Hits album there will always be preferences that were left off. For me, that's "Ice Cream Man". That's the perfect end of album song, to me. Should ahve been here, instead of three live versions of songs that are already on the package elsewhere! I suppose it will come down to whether or not you've already got the first one. If you do, you'll be buying what essentially amounts to "Disc 2" of the other Greatest Hits package plus a couple of extras. Of course, now you can't dump your copy of Volume 1 either, because it's got three songs that aren't on any other Van Halen album - and Me Wise Magic is one of the best DLR era VH tracks.
About Best of Both Worlds? It's a great greatest hits album, has just about every major Van Halen hit, plus a few good new tracks. Worth it, I think.
