Hooters, The

The Hooters are a band I know well from my time living in Philadelphia. They were a massive hit early in the 80's - especially in the Philadelphia area. They went along after their brief moment in the sun as a smaller time group, and eventually splitting up in 95 (although they did some things from time to time in Europe).

In 2006, they got back together and recorded a new album of material, which was released in Europe in the fall of 2007, and in the US in February of 2008. As I was a big Hooters fan, I was interested in this album. I managed to snag a copy in the fall of 2007 via "other methods", and waited for the official US release, which I bought once I found out it was out. Actually, it got out and I didn't notice it. It was out for four months in the US before I even noticed it had come out - embarrassing.

Anyway, the album sounds like the Hooters. They always had this slightly unique sound that I've never been able to completely pin down. It's a nice light, airy sound. Not too poppy, but not too hard. I guess you could call it "Good" Rock and Roll (for lack of a better term).

Right now, individual standout tracks are something I'm having a hard time writing about, but I will say the album is solid. However, if you were never a fan of the Hooters before, you probably won't like this now. If you've never heard the Hooters before, check it out, you might like it. Below is the music video for the single from the album, "I'm Alive". Good radio friendly hit. Which means I'll probably never hear it. :)

he Hooters are another band from my hometown of Philadelphia. I'm not sure how to describe their music, but if you click on the cover art, you can hear a few samples. This is another Greatest Hits album (I should count them all - I probably have a ton) that's pretty solid from end to end. Also has Time After Time, a Cyndi Lauper song (that the Hooters actually wrote for her).
