Eagles

Long Road out of Eden (2007)

This release was quite an odd one. In the holiday season of 2007, I went looking for this in my wife's store (she works for Borders Books). I was looking for it, and didn't find any. It was strange, because I had heard it was just released. Then I looked in their computer system, and not only did they not have any in the store, but they had none on order. I was quite aghast, since it was a new release by a fairly major act. That stunned me. Then I went home, and figured out what the deal was. This release was a Wal-Mart exclusive. The Eagles set up something where you could only buy it as a release through Wal-Mart and its stores, or through the Eagles site directly. That was it. Read where it was a one year exclusive, but Amazon.com lists it as a May 6, 2008 release, so it could end up being a six month thing.

Anyway, I was never the biggest Eagles fan. I liked a lot of their songs, but I never owned any of their albums in the past, save for a Greatest Hits one I had for awhile. But for some reason I like artists who still make music all these years later, so I decided to get it blind. I had a $10 gift certificate from Walmart due to a shipping error on another order, so this thing only cost me $1.97 total -for a double studio album, that's a heck of a deal.

Too bad the music wasn't a heck of a release. It's all mellow Eagles stuff. In all fairness, I have only listened to this a couple of times, and none of them all the way through at once. I need to give this a better shake to see if I'll like it. But I haven't as of yet.
