The Altar and the Door - Casting Crowns
This is one thing I don't have enough of - good Christian music. My problem is I tend to like harder edged music, and there isn't a lot of that kind of music with a Christian theme. This isn't exactly "hard rock" per se, but this caught me in a way that reminds me of the way Petra caught me some 16 years previous.
My church has a monthly Men's breakfast and a few months back our group leader had bought this album, and we did a study of the lyrics of one of the songs "The Word is Alive". Here's a sample:
The Word Is Alive
And It Cuts Like A Sword Through The Darkness
With A Message Of Life To The Hopeless And Afraid
Breathing Life Into All Who Believe
The Word Is Alive
And The World And Its Glories Will Fade
But His Truth, It Will Not Pass Away
It Remains Yesterday And Forever The Same
The Word Is Alive
The song could be quantified as a power ballad I suppose, but there's a strong feel to this. It's very catchy, and has a wonderful message. I bought it originally on iTunes, and then I saw a big sale at a Christian store, and actually bought a second copy on a physical CD. My wife has ended up enjoying this more than I - and I do like the album.
This isn't your usual "boring" Christian music. While a lot of Christian music has a good message, the "music" as such isn't as great. This is not the case here.
