Blue Man Group

The Complex (2003)

I don't have much to say about this one yet. I got it less than two hours before I wrote it up on this page. My initial listen (which wasn't even the entire album) tells me two things. It's Blue Man Group. It's Blue Man Group trying to do something different. They have vocals on this album, which they didn't have on the last one. It sounds different, yet still sounds like them. Will probably have a better commentary once I get a chance to listen to it more.

I've listened to it more, and I have to say I don't like it as much as the first. It's an attempt to make their music sound more mainstream - more like a real band. And I have to say I didn't like the attempt much. I really prefer their first album to this, although there are a few good tracks here.

I saw these guys on Jay Leno, and heard a bunch of good things about them, so I thought I'd check out their album. It's a percussionist lover's dream. It's kind of hard to describe, really. If you like drums and percussion, then you'll love this. The visual show the band has means nothing on the album, so you only have audio (hence the name of the album) to listen to, and the stuff on here is quite good - even if it sounds a bit repetitive sometimes.
