Time Passes

Today, we reach a milestone in Samantha's life. Two of the things that we used when she was a newborn were retired today.

The Fishies: May 14 to Nov 26, 2005

One of the things I'm speaking of is the bouncer that we called "The Fishies". It's a sad moment, as the fishies have saved our butts many a time when Samantha was up late at night and was upset. It was a good time killer for many a month during 2005. Samantha would be fascinated by the fishies for quite awhile. It was one of the better gifts given to us, and has served us well. It's with great sadness and regret that we had to stop using them. But Samantha was a little over the weight limit for the bouncer, and we obviously didn't want her to get hurt using it. We had a ceremony tonight marking the end of the fishies. We put her in it for the final time, and then spent some time remember how small she was when we first put her in it. We'll let you see that for yourself here. The first two pictures are from May 14th when she first sat in this, and the second are tonight, Nov 26th, the night she sat it in for the final time.

The Carrier: Apr 19 to Nov 26, 2005

The other item is the carrier portion of her stroller. The stroller itself still works fine, but the carrier part we used from the day she came home from the hospital. In fact, Samantha was carried into the house the first time (by me) into the house in that. Any time Samantha has been out of the house, she's been in that. This too got retired tonight. This doesn't seem as big an emotional attachment as the fishies did. The carrier seemed more like a functional piece of furniture than something fun, which is what the fishies were. The carrier and the base have been replaced in the truck with a larger kid seat, which is rated to hold her till she's 65 pounds, so that should serve us for quite awhile. Here are some comparison pictures of Samantha in the carrier from the day she came home from the hospital on April 19th, and from a week ago. We actually intended to stop using the carrier a week ago, but due to some problems getting it installed in the truck, we kept using the old system a little while longer, hence the pictures not being taken tonight.

Our baby is growing up. Not that we needed any proof, but you can certainly see it in these pictures.

Just can't believe the little peanut has grown this much. Seems like time is going too fast. We certainly enjoy the pictures since we can't be there everyday to see Samantha grow up. Before you know it, she'll be crawling. At this age, new things happen almost everyday. It's almost difficult to remember how little she was compared to now. Like I've mentioned before, treasure every moment! :)
