Firewheel Town Center Mall in Garland
UPDATE Sep 29 2005: I just found out the other day that the mall is opening on Friday October 7th. As that is 8 days from the time I"m writing this, all the folks visiting this site looking to get hired are probably out of luck at this point, I'd imagine. I'm still surprised we haven't seen a comprehensive list of stores published anywhere. Once the store opens, I'll probably go to the mall and get a directory and post the actual list of stores here.
I'm also finding it interesting how high up on Google's search this blog entry is. Thanks to all who have visited.
UPDATE Aug 1 2005: I have a significantly larger list of stores that will be in the mall now. See the bottom of the entry for my update....
Original Blog Entry on Mall:
I live in Garland, Texas, and there's one thing this city has lacked is a big mall of it's own. We've had to go to Plano, or to Dallas, or to Mesquite to hit a shopping mall. Garland hasn't had one. But that's changing now, with the opening of our own "Firewheel Town Center" mall in October of 2005. There doesn't appear to be any official website for the mall (yet).
I've been trying to find out a list of what's going in there. The biggest chunk of the information I can find is from the website of Michael Holden, who is a City Council Rep in Garland. On his page for the mall, he lists these stores as being there:
In the Mall:
Dillard's
Foley's
AMC Theater (16 screens)
Barnes and Noble
Linen's & Things
Circuit City
Old Navy
The Gap
In the Surrounding Area:
Best Buy
Bed, Bath & Beyond
Lowe's (Not new, This has been here for years)
Home Depot (Not new, This has been here for years)
Restaurants In the Mall:
Macaroni Grill
Bone Daddy's
TGI Friday's
Rockfish
On the Border
P.F. Changs (searching for a site for Pei Wei their fast/casual concept)
Big Bowl (Brinker Restaurant)
Restaurants In the Surrounding Area:
Chili's (Not new, has been here for years)
McDonalds (Not new, This has been here for years)
--------------
Here's some stuff I've been able to find out on my own.
1) Tonight I found that there's a job application online for a company called "Limited Brands". They are the parent company of these (so any of them could be in the mall): Victoria's Secret, Express, Bath & Body Works, The Limited, White Barn Candle, Henri Bendel.
2) I also saw where Build a Bear will be in there. Link.
3) Company called Coldwater Creek should be here. I found this link which lists a job for a store manager.
4) This link shows that Pier 1, Fox & Hound, Snuffer's are going to be here. Snuffer's is a restuarant, not sure what Fox & Hound is, I think it's another restaurant.
There's probably more, but I'm writing this at 3:30AM, and I'm pretty tired. If you find any more, or find an official website and/or list, please let me know.
The sad thing is that since I live in South Garland, it will still be significantly closer for me to go to Mesquite. It's 5 minutes away. The Firewheel mall in North Garland is about a 20 minute drive, depending on how many traffic lights I hit. We'll probably visit it, but the only unique store there that would cause us to go there is Build A Bear. Everything else listed so far is common stuff that you can get anywhere.
UPDATE AUG 1: I received the monthly newsletter the city of Garland publishes today, and they had a very large list of stores in the mall. The article says this isn't the complete list, but here goes:
Barnes & Noble
Circit City
Linens N Things
Firewheel Day Spa & Salon
Zales Jewelers
Journeys
Build a Bear Workshop
Riceboxx Asian Cafe
Nine West
Sam's Fine Jewelry
Norman Cosmetics
Nestle Tollhosue Cafe
Ann Taylor Loft
Lenscrafters
COldwater Creek
Select Comfort
Yankee Candle Shop
Victoria's Secret
Express
James Avery Craftsman
Bath & Body Works
Eyemasters
Paterie & Co
Footlocker
Bombay Co
Kay Jewelers
Claire's
Pier One
Eddie Bauer
Brookstone
American Eagle Outfitters
Lane Bryant
Friday's
Trade Secret
Christopher & Banks
General Nutrition Center
DSW Shoe Warehouse
Cosina Caliente
Beauty Nails
Aldo
Stride Rite Shoes
Coldstone Creamery
Hat World
Bath Junkie
Charlotte Russe
Brighton Collectilbes
Sunglass Design
Street Corner News
Candy World
Nasr Jewelers
Club Libby Lu
Celebrity Kids
Talbot's
Fossil
Regis
Pac Sun
Most of these I have no idea what they're supposed to be. I still stand by my original statemnt that since I live about 5 minutes from Town East Mall, there's nothing unique that would make me want to drive out there except Build A Bear. That's unfortunate, as I do live in Garland, but the Mesquite mall is so much more convenient for me.
What else is interesting is that this big list doesn't list some of the stores that I had in my smaller update from before.

I'm trying to find out, how to apply for jobs at the new fire wheel town center?
Thanks
Chandra
Consider viewing the management company site at Simon.

Hello Joe, Yes Build A Bear will be at Firewheel and Chandra we will start the hireing process in mid August, please apply at Build A Bear.com. Joe I love your Rangers Fan site I visit the site weekly come by and say hello when we open on October the 7th.
there will also be a hot topic store at the firewheel center. they have posted a job listing on their website.
Hi, Joe -
I live in Rowlett, so glad you've posted this. We've been wondering what's going in. We live in North Rowlett (about 1 mile off of 190 in Waterview) so this mall is definetly going to change things for us!
Wanted to tell you that Fox & Hound is a sports bar, but a sports bar with really great food, and a "swanky" atmosphere (not your regular smoke-filled sports bar). Also, Coldwater Creek is a high end catalog store. The ONLY other Coldwater store I know of is located at Stonebriar. So, it sounds like to me that they're trying to attract some high end stores. We're thrilled about Pei Wei since the only other one is in Richardson and hard to get to. Besides that, it's the PF Chang's menu for half the price. We are disappointed about Pier 1 -- waste of real estate these days, it's not the store it used to be and there's one in Rockwall and in Plano (and the one in Mesquite just closed, so it's odd they're opening one so close to Mesquite).
Snuffer's in Rockwall is really hopping, though, so another one is probably a good move. The one in Rockwall opened about 4/5 months ago and we still haven't been able to get in! Great burgers, though.
Thanks for all the info.!
Whitney Rosenbalm
p.s.: Club LIbby Lu's site shows they're opening a store at Firewheel Oct. 2005. It's a girls' fashion accessory store that does "makeovers" for girls and pre-teens. The best part being, they offer birthday packages -- and since Garland is so industrial heavy, there's next to nowhere to have a kids party. This one will be popular with the Garland and Lake Cities girls!
Also listed on the Simon site as coming to Firewheel are DSW Shoes and Sports Authority (formerly Oshmans)
I wanted to let you know there is als a place called Potbelly coming in. It is a deli type of place. They just opened one in Richardson off 75 and Campbell road. There are a few others in Dallas as well. Just FYI in the shopping center accross from the mall near Hobby Lobby is going to be a Mardels and I think a Big Lots.
GNC will have a store here also. You can apply online at gnc.com or in person at the Richardson square mall location.
Hey I'm 18 and I was wondering if there was going to be a Hollister store in this mall. If there isent that would really suck because thats were a lot of teenagers buy thier clothes and we always have to go far to go to a Hollister. Please put one in there, I would probably try to work there too.
I think the new mall is cool but why is everything outside? What if it rains, or when its really hot or cold. That is really going to be a bummber. Well atleast we don't have to go as far to go to the mall
just to let you know...the simon website job app. is for the actual Simon Property Co. The jobs are for like builders and stuff like that. I do hope that they create a link for the stores though. It would be nice and a lot easier.
How old do you have to be to work at the AMC theatre and when can i apply?
The idea of having an outdoor mall (aka town center) is to kill the horror that is suburban malls and make it more pedestrian-focused. Future plans for the area include mix-use structures that include retail, business, and living quarters. Think Mockingbird Station. Hopefully it will eventually bring the DART line to the area as some have speculated.
A mall in the Land of Gar - woohoo!!! FYI, the City of Garland website has an update posted for August now. Looks you'll need to update your list of stores. Here's the link:
http://www.ci.garland.tx.us/Home/Departments/City+Administration/Community+Relations/August+Update.htm
Hey, I was looking through the list of stores and I didn't see Hollister, and I was very dissapointed. Everyone of my friends wears Hollister and we all spend TONS of money in that strore to try to look good for school. Hollister will definatley be a store that will bring lots of attraction to the mall. Please don't make this mall ghetto, so we have to drive all the way out to West Plano, MEsquite or Dallas, I promise this is whatmost of my closet is full of. Take a poll or somthing, seriously teenagers want this!!!!

The city of Garland has added an August 2005 update to the website (http://www.ci.garland.tx.us/Home/Departments/City+Administration/Community+Relations/August+Update.htm). Here they list quite a few of the companies that will be in the mall.
Here is an exerpt:
"...Approximately 85 percent of the 17 buildings are complete and ready for tenant construction. The “Main Street” exterior facades are almost complete along Cedar Sage (main road between Foley’s and Dillard’s). Sidewalk construction is about 90 percent complete with landscaping not far behind. Foley’s is nearly complete and exterior landscaping is underway. Dillard’s is about 90 percent complete. The AMC Cinema is taking shape, but not scheduled to open until December.

I hope that this helps those that are like us - looking for some information on the new mall in our area. I live in Wylie and am tired of driving all over the place to get to a movie or shop. I can't wait until the mall opens.

The Lane Bryant store that will be opening will be actually two shops. One side will be clothing and the other side will be lingerie entitled Cacique. For any plus size women shoppers the new store plans on being a cutting edge (I personally know the manager who will be running the Cacique store) and the answer to all of us who cannot by anything beyond perfume at Victoria Secret.

I work for IPC International Corp. as a Security Director and will be the Director for Firewheel Town Center.
We are currently accepting applications for full and part-time security officers. To apply however, applicants will need to go to Richardson Square Mall and contact Ronald Castro. An add should come out in the newspaper this week.
PLEEEAASSEE PLEEEEAAASSSE DONT PUT A HOLLISTER IN THE MALL! PUT AN A'GACI TOO IN THE MALL BECAUSE ITS CHEAPER AND HAS MUCH BETTER CLOTHES.....YOU DONT HAVE TO PAY 25 DOLLARS FOR ONE FREAKING T- SHIRT!!!

I am very excited over the opening of the Firewheel Town Center. I live just a block away and I have been waiting for 11 years. It's finally going to happen! I wish they put up stores like: Ross and Marshalls. Also, a Japanese restaurant would be a good addition.
This is krunk that they are putting this in put it needs covered walk ways, more stores like you would find in collin creek mall or town east.... other than that i have really no complaints.....jst wishing that my girlfriend will get a job there .... she wants to work at that Agaci store....hopefully there will be one in the end!!!!!!

I cannot for the life of me figure out the road configuration, nor can I find a map showing just exactly how the frontage road and Bush extension will look in front of Firewheel. Have you seen such a site map?
I love the stores that will be there like American Eagle, Charlotte Russe, Journey's and Pac Sun, but I would really like to see a Hollister and Abercrombie and Fitch because you have to drive so far to get to either of those. Also, an Agaci too, that way I can stay in one place to check out all my favorite stores. :-)
Foleys is currently accepting applications and interviewing for all positions. Intrested applicants can apply at either the Texas Worksource Center in Richardson or Garland. On September 12th intrested applicants can apply directly at the Foleys store in Firewheel.

Wondering why they're bothering to call it a Foley's since they're all going to change the name to Macy's very soon as a result of Federated buying Macy's.

where do you apply for jobs for the mall Help
J Jill will be opening a store in Firewheel. We are a women's clothing store helping to make the over 35 woman look even more beautiful than she already in. We also have a store in Plano and several other locations in Texas. Gerry, J Jill - Tilton, New Hampshire
Just wanted to let some people know that alot of the places like American Eagle, Pacsun, Victoria Secrets, Barnes and Noble, Linens and Things, Bath and Body Works, Charlotte Russe, and a bunch more held a job fair like 2 weeks ago and thats how they were hiring, that how i got my job at Candy World. I do know that Foleys was taking applications at their other locations for awhile though. Good luck to anyone who get s a job there, might get to meet you!
Does anyone know when the new Olive Garden is opening? I also heard that there is a Fudruckers going in where the old Luby's was.
I think it is great that we will have more options for dining out and shopping.
Town East mall is closer to us as well, but I and the Mrs. would be going to this new mall instead of Town East.
I'm sure the remodeling Town East is doing will be nice, but the stores & restaurants listed in Fire Wheel are some of our favorite places.
As far as Fox & Hound? They cut me off last visit so no more money from The Lush at the Skillman location. :-P
I'm so excited about the new mall! I've lived in North Garland all my life and have craved a nearby mall since I was a teenager.
Just wanted to post that I've opened a new learning center, Oxford Learning, in the same shopping center as Target. Come see us! We have a half-day preschool that has no more than six children to a class, and every child has customized curriculum that is made just for them!
We also offer after school tutoring for ages 6 through 18. These children also receive customized curriculum that teaches them how to learn more effectively.
I am a former Garland ISD teacher and have worked teaching teachers across the southern United States. Come see us and find out how we can help your family!
I would like to rent the place in surrounding area. would you please give a phone number and email me.
What restaurants are going to be here? I've heard so many different things I have no idea. I've heard On the Border, Macaroni Grill, Snuffers, Fridays, Johnny Carrino's, Big Bowl, Pei Wei, etc. So far, most official sites only say Friday's. I really want more restaurants in this area. There's nothing now!
do you know if any of the stores are still hiring??
need a link or web page for the mall
I am excited to have a new mall closer, but what I really would like to see is a Gym Kids or Little Gym or some type of thing like this for kids. Also will there be any kind of play area since it is outside? This is what we love about the indoor malls...the play areas for the wee ones. I live in Richardson, but on the Garland side. My 5 year old wants to take the Karate and gym classes, but there are none close.
are you hiring at any of your stores?
are you hiring at any of your stores?
I was wondering if any of the stores are still hiring?
I see on their plan that they have 2 picture people. http://www.ucrrealty.com/pdf_packages/Firewheel_Town_Center/FTC_Plan2.pdf
well cant wait till its open. Does any one know when? I heard October 9.
Is there gonna be a holister at the mall? That is pretty much all me and my sisters wear, and i'm tired of havin to go all the way to West Plano. Get a Hollister at Firewheel! Please!
SORRY TO BURST PEOPLES BUBBLES AND MINE ALSO BUT HERE IS A LIST OF STORES
http://www.simon.com/mall/directory.aspx?ID=1074
Please if you want to be succesful you need to put in a Hollister and a Abercrombie!!!!!!!!
just to let you know there is a wacky bear factory at town east mall-- there used to be a build a bear here at town east but it was just too darn expensive and no one really shopped there, wacky bear is not much better but it is at least a little more affordable.
I have contacted Hollister Co. and they say that they should have a store at our Firewheel Centre just not at the grand opening. Maybe the store is apart of phase 2? I will keep you updated.
hey when do you expect phase 2 to be done? also i was out there today helping put together one of our new stores out there and i really did not see any eating places... will there be any open on friday? and which ones are going to be housed in the mall and are or will there be ones outside the mall? also just to let you know the dillard's is awesome...love it... and everyone shop at bath and body works, because it is the best...
Hi, I was just wondering if the mall was opening Thursday October 6th because that is what I heard.
Is there gonna be a Z-Zone/or other so called "Hip Hop" Stores?Because not all of us wear Hollister
please give me directions from flower mound
Hollister Co. Says they will have a store at firewheel by years end!
What's with all the idiot teenyboppers whining about Hollister. Christ its just a store, there clothes are ugly, plain, and over priced. You kids all try way to hard to look the same. There is something called individuality, you should try it. The people runnign Hollister are making a killing because a fool and his money are soon to part.
WHATS WITH MISS M BEING A BRAT ABOUT WHATS IN STYLE , MUST BE A FREAK OR SOMETHING RIGHT?
I have my own style. And no i am not a goth or freak, thats just as lame and contrived as the hollister/abercrombie look. I prefer to have clothes imported from europe, and have custom mad clothing. Perhaps you have heard of coture. I have no problem spending lots of money on clothes, i jsut think its dumb that people bay so much for basic staples like jeans and t-shirts. espcially considering that stuff costs a few dollars to make in some third world sweat shop. but you kids are too ignorant to care, as long as you look cool right.
oKay I Need the address 2 da mall how do i find dat ?
Is there a new york and company or lerner new york in the mall. Where is the mall located?
Ewww Why do you care if teenagers want a Hollister in the mall, they have nice clothes, don't be mad because you are ugly. People ask for a Hollister because thats were they shop and there isent on at the mall, go to Goodwill or somthing you can afford
WHERE IS THE MALL LOCATED?
Does anyone know what that are goin to be in the shops infront of the mall?? Where is Hollister gunna be??
When are they gunna open up phase 2 at the mall?
I agree with you the way you view the issue. I remember Jack London once said everything positive has a negative side; everything negative has positive side. It is also interesting to see different viewpoints & learn useful things in the discussion.
My husband and I visited the mall last Saturday evening. First we drove by the store fronts. It is enourmous. Put on good walking shoes. We were only able to get to a small portion. We parked near Dillard's. We shopped. Very friendly, good service, quality merchandise, great store layout. Then we strolled down the street to other stores like Coldwater Creek, Talbots, Nestles Cookie, and looked at the fountain area. Beautifully designed mall, but we had the same thoughts, what about Texas weather???? You will definitely have to decide where you want to shop and park nearby. Too big to park at one end and walk to the other end. They need some type of tram service. Restaurants or theater weren't open yet. Stores that did have snacks and beverages were very busy. Nestles is definitely worth the wait. The Mall is a good place to go for a strohl, conversation, and something different.
when and where can i aplly at the new amc theatre?
For those of you who asked for directions, the mall is located at the corner of the George Bush Turnpike and Hwy 78 in far north Garland. The easiest way to get there is to get on Bush and head east. The mall is where Bush currently ends at its eastmost point.
i just want to know when does the amc theater open?
sara if by nice clothes you mean ugly shirts and ripped jean. i dont know why i am wasting my time with you. with a comeback like you must be ugly and shop at goodwill i'd bet my paycheck youa re like 12 of something. if you want to know what i wear, please look up coture, and i mean real coture not that crap from juicy. Hollister does not have nice clothes, they have plain, ugly clothes. wow jean and t shirts whoopppee.
What are gunna be in the shops out in front of the mall
um im 16 and I think hollister is the most ridiculous store ever why on earth anyone would want to pay 25 extra dollars for a shirt just because it has a stupid seagull on it is beyond me. but whatever i guess trying to blend in so noone knows you exist is the "in" thing
AMC THEATRES 18 FIREWHEEL opens on December 14th.
Fish City Grill at Firewheel Opens the week the AMC opens, Phase 2 for those who have been asking is slated to open Fall 2006.
As a Rowlett residence I'm just happy to have mall closer to my side of the Dallas Universe. Town East and Richardson square have become too crowded so if you gotta contend with crowds ya might as well be closer to home, right?
I was just wondering if there was gunna be an Abercrombie and Fitch or a Hollister at the mall....does anyone know??
I wanted to know when the new champs is opening and how do i get an application for that store?
I want to work at Fossil and I was wondering if they were hireing because that would be great
I been hearing rumors about building an Ulta cosmetics and fragrance store at the Firewell mall. Is it true, and if so when will construction begin. There is an Ulta store in Mesquite but having one at the Fireweel Mall will bring in huge business
Hi, I was just wondering, I know there will be a Hollister, but what about Abercrombie & Fitch?
How do you know there will be a Hollister there?
I love the new mall in garland it is a really cool sucess and i think peple all around will love it.
Hollisters? Other shops teens are pinign for?
Jeez, that's all we need is more rude loud teens haning out in malls without parental supervision (not that they'd do anything about it anyway).
They're the biggest reason I hate shopping, especially in malls.
Hey Halo...There are rude adults like you who need to grow up and stop steriotyping teenagers. I don't know what your talkin about us being rude and loud but you sound pretty rude yourself and if you think we are loud why dont you shop on the internet and not show your face in public, because no one wants a scrooge like you around for Christmas. I feel sorry for you.
will it be hollister and Abercrombie anytime soon..b/c most teenagers go there and shop there..but instead if ya'll have one..we don't have to go all the way to Stonbrier or willowbend or even grapevines..i mean..it's far..so tell me please..
hey i was wondering if at any time during the end of december or january yall had any horse drawn carriage things or anything like that
If u can contact me using my e-mail. Thanks
Does anyone else wonder how many of the OMG WILL THERE BE A HOLISTER? were posted by the same person typing a different name and email each time?
As for the mall, I've been to it once and it is nice, but kind of a hastle. I go to the mall because you can find everything you need in different stores that are close together. The out door mall is too spead out. They also should not have opened it before they had any resturants open. I had to leave when I got hungry and didn't bother coming back.
On a side note there is a Holister in town east and I can't understand anyone wanting to pay 50 dollars for some jeans with stains on them and holes in them. You can find jeans like that at goodwill for about two bucks or even buy a new pair for like 20 and spill your own paint on them... Get a clue
I heard that Chucks is coming as well. Anybody know Chucks restaurant?
Earthbound Trading Company has closed its doors at Firewheel Town Center, however, 50 new stores will be opening there by fall.
Why did that store close already?? Is the mall not getting good business?? Also does anyone know what else is being built around the mall?
If you would like to see an Abercrombie and Fitch or Hollister Co. at Firewheel Town Center, please go to www.abercrombie.com and e-mail the company to let them know you want them, www.hollisterco.com also, you can call 972-495-8085 and talk to the mall's customer service about getting these great stores.
A new Cheddars is coming soon to 190 & North Garland Avenue, near Target. being built now.
I went to work at fossil they sale good cloths and jewerlys in the store.
I am new to the area and live within walking distance of the mall..if anyone knows a store that is hiring please let me know!!
I contacted Earthbound to see why they closed so quickly. They said it was just a temporary store. I have a feeeling thats a lot of BS. Why are there three Starbucks at the mall? There is one near the center of the mall, one in B&N, and one by Potbelly. Is there confirmation on what will be in faze 2. I've heard there is going to be a Sports authority behong Circuit City, I also heard that will be an Eathan Alllen and World Market. I have a feeling it will be a world market, which is probably why Earthbound left.
There will never be a phase two
so where is this Hollister?
Best buy is confimed. oh and Joe are your from the 'burgh? I noticed the eat and park commercial on your site.
What are they building across the street from Circut City??
I am soo excited about this mall! i love the fact that it is outdoors- people need to get out more! The restaurants around it are GREAT and the stores are so convenient, not to mention the most popular stores of every kind! The architecture is awesome, reminds me of a little town. How charming! Now when people go on dates to the 'mall' it will be a more romantic setting than your normal indoor circle malls. Should consider those horse and buggies.
Love these postings!

What Time Does Firewheel Close On Sunday?
I Need To Know Really Soon.
Please E-mail The Times!!
:D
I am currently wheel chair boulnd.
Last week on a trip to Firewheel we encountered the following problems:
In at least two stores wide aisles were blocked by store displays--making access impossible. There were no automatic doors and single doors were a tight squeeze.
To eat lunch at Pei Wei we had to park a block away to get a handicapped parking and a handicap ramp. The doors had the same problem as the stores.
It is definitely not adhering to the Persons with Disability Act.
You're complaining that you can't park right in front of the store with your handicapped plate? I have to walk much further than one block usually to get to the store I want to get to. Oh waaahh.
Hello! I am an employee of Simon Properties. I have worked here at Firewheel since Jan. 2005. I would be more than happy to answer any questions about our mall, and let you know about all the great programs, and new stores that are coming. We have a lot going on at Firewheel. With the construction of the new townhomes going full force, and a whole list of fun stuff for the day after Thanksgiving. As far as the comment from the wheelchair bound customer, just an FYI to everyone; we do not own the strip center that is behind Dillard's, near 78. i.e. Pei Wei. That is not part of Firewheel Town Center at all. I would be more than happy to speak with Suzanna (the mall director) on any concerns, or questions that you may have.
Have a Great Day!

Hey, so what all new stores and and apartments are going to be built at Firewheel?
I don't know what Joe Siegler is talking about! I live about 3 minutes from town east mall and I prefer to drive out to firewheel to do my shopping. The town east mall has gone down hill fast. It is not a pleasent place to shop in the least. Firewheel is a great place to spend the day. My boyfriend and I like to grab some coffee from the starbucks at the mall and walk around all the shops. I love that it is outside. It never feels crowded. We are anxious to see what other restaurants and shops are going up.
