Baby Update
I just realized I haven't had a baby update in ages. I've been too busy enjoying hanging around with my daughter, and I had forgotten to update my blog with things going on with her. A lot of the reason for that is that my wife's been doing that since she got moving with her own blog.
But I wanted to add something myself today. I have had a wonderful time being a father. This is where you insert the comment about it being the best thing I've ever done. Yeah, that is the case, but it sounds trite somehow. All I'll say is that Samantha's been a wonderful addition to our family. I think a lot of that is due to Lynn who spends the lion's share of the time with Samantha. Mostly because I work during the day, and when I come home from work, there's about two and a half hours between my arrival home and Samantha's bedtime, so all the time I'm at work is time Lynn has with Sam. That's all good, I don't begrudge her that. Lynn is Sam's mommy, and should be spending a lot of time with her. Daddy loves his daughter too, just wish I was independently wealthy so I could spend more time with them.
Anyway, yesterday Samantha went with us to church, and as is the norm, she was in the nursery while we were in church. This Sunday I was doing my once a month duty as an usher, and I was the "third" usher, which means I manned the alternate entrance to the Sanctuary. The point in mentioning that is that this entrance is near the entrance to the nursery, and I could hear Samantha screaming up a storm. She was watching the Baby Einstein videos, and when the nuserry workers (who are wonderful) picked her up for a bottle, and Samantha started screaming, and stayed that way for awhile. I was tempted to go into the church and tell Mommy, but figured if there was a real problem, they'd page Lynn (as our church has restaurant style pagers for parents with kids in the nursery). Plus Samantha needed to know that not everything can be solved by screaming for Mommy. :) All worked out well there, but it was interesting to hear someone else deal with my screaming child.
Later that afternoon we went to the Main Borders Bookstore in Dallas at Preston & Royal. Had Samantha with us, and she was in her stroller. While we were walking around the store, we noticed that Samantha had discovered her toes! She was grabbing her right foot, so it won't be long before the foot is in the mouth along with most everything else that gets near her. :)
We also think that Samantha is going to be left handed. It's still pretty early to tell, but she seems to favor her left hand at the moment.
Come on Texas Lotto! Pick my numbers man, so I can spend more time with my daughter!

Joe, it is nice to read your views about being a father. Samantha is very lucky to have two wonderful and loving parents. Her aunt and uncle wish they lived closer so they could spend more time with her, too! :)
