Baby Update
Things are going well on the baby front. Other than a huge amount of throwing up (which isn't totally unexpected), Lynn is doing fine. For anyone reading this who has had a kid, I'm sure you remember what it was like, and we're going through that stuff now. I'm sure Lynn is thinking "This throwing up isn't what I wanted" when she thinks back on the decision to get pregnant. Yeah, we know it will eventually pass, but until you get there, it's Barf Fest 2004™. As silly as I make that sound, her morning/afternoon/anytime sickness is pretty much the only issue we've really had to deal with so far. For that I'm grateful.
On a more positive note, this Monday Lynn had another appointment with the doctor. Everything went well, was basically a routine pregnancy checkup. We did get to hear the baby's heartbeat which was pretty cool. Was definitely another "tearing up" moment. Didn't seem as powerful as seeing the baby on the Sonagram last time (especially since we saw the heartbeat then), but still an emotional moment.
Lynn's mother is in town as I write this, and yesterday they spent the day doing some baby shopping, so when I got home from work, I got the "Look at what we bought for the baby" thing. Sounds geeky, but I enjoyed it. Was really nice to see that kind of smile on my wife's face. Whatever makes her smile is usually a pretty good thing.
We've started talking about where we're going to put furniture in the house for the baby (crib, diaper changing station, etc), as well as a rocking chair we plan on buying.
And finally, we've got names picked for the baby too. We are NOT planning on finding out the gender beforehand. Sure, we could (although not yet, it's still a bit too early) find out, but we just don't want to. Anyway, the names we've picked are:
Samantha Anne (Anne after Lynn as well as her aunt of the same name)
Michael Edward (Michael is my middle name, and Edward is my brother's name).
So we're pretty happy with those. I'm pretty happy overall!

\o/ we love baby updates.
Congratulations on the new baby, I
don't usually ever give advice, but I threw up everyday of my pregnancies (from like the moment the sperm hit the egg to pushing the puppy out) so I know what your wife is going through. The only thing that helped (that crap about water and crackers is just that) was non alcoholic beer, something about the yeast and hops and wheat or something, it was the only thing to soothe my stomach. You might give it a try if it's really bad, best wishes for a healthy baby,
Love Jo
